Chef Sudantha
Sudantha was born in Hikkaduwa, West Sri Lanka, and now lives in Galle with his wife and 2 children. He is a keen sportsman and like most Sri Lankan’s loves to play cricket!
In 2000 Sudantha started working as a private chef for an English family in Galle, then as head chef catering for weddings and exclusive parties for a leading events company Galle Events. Between 2015 - 2020 he was head chef at Poonies kitchen, one of the best café / restaurants in Gale Fort.
After Covid Sudantha came to Meda Gedara on a temporary basis to cook for a family gathering over Christmas. However, the synergy between the team was so great that he wanted to stay with us on a permanent basis at Meda Gedara. We were absolutely over the moon, he has completed our exceptional team.
Extensive repertoire
Sudantha loves to cook Thai, Indian, Middle Eastern, Italian and good old fashioned English comfort food, although his forte has to be his incredible Sri Lankan curries which are truly heaven sent. Even the fussiest of kids dive into whatever is put in front of them.
Although we have suggested menu’s he can accommodate all requests and preferences, food intolerances and allergies. He always gauges the mood and seem to know just what the guests might like to eat each day.
To be fed by Sudantha is a proper treat, his food is undoubtedly a holiday highlight.
